Thank you for completing a "You said, We did" card recently relating to the temperature in the Library, and the new parking ticket systems.
I'm sorry to hear you've found it cold. The temperature can vary considerably across each floor of the Library, so if you find it too hot or too cold in an area please let us know, including details of what day and time you found the problem, and the area you experienced the problem in. Each desk in the Library is labelled with a number, so you can use this. Ideally speak to a member of staff at the time. When we have details of specific problems we can report these to Estates to investigate. As a general rule, it tends to be cooler around the perimeter of the Library, and warmer towards the centre.
I'm also sorry to hear that you've found the parking ticket system has been disruptive. As this is a new system, we are taking a cautious approach, and want to ensure we don't apply a ticket to a desk unless it has been unattended for over an hour. We will pass your feedback on to the staff carrying out the checks. The Parking Ticket system is intended to raise awareness amongst students of the problem posed by belongings being left unattended for long period of time, potentially depriving someone of a study space, and happily to date we've issued very few tickets. We will be keeping the situation under review, and welcome feedback from Library users about it. Any other suggestions on how we can manage the situation are also very welcome.
Thanks for getting in touch.
