Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the JF Allen Library.
While I understand the logic behind your suggestion it’s not really something I want to implement. Library staff are on duty from 1000 every weekday in the Library so we aren’t around first thing. In any event I feel it’s up to our users to decide on the levels of light they want while studying – this will vary greatly according to personal preference and at any given time there is likely to be a mixture of open, partially open and drawn blinds. I certainly agree that it can be dark and gloomy in St Andrews in winter but we’ve not had any adverse comments about light levels in the JF Allen Library before now.
At this time of year the hours of daylight increase rapidly so hopefully a bit of spring sunshine will help – I will of course keep your suggestion in mind.
