Thank you for completing a Library comments card.
It is frustrating that some students are even attempting to gain entry when they shouldn’t. Clearly the access control system at Martyrs is such that it’s possible for it to be circumvented by someone doing something as simple as holding a door open for the person behind them.
You may be interested to know that the Provost has asked us to carry out a review of Martyrs operations and we will be consulting with staff and student users as part of this process. We have been asked to report back towards the end of the summer and the review will consider a number of things including who is given access to the space the opening hours of the facility. The review will also take into account feedback we’ve had from users since we opened Martyrs two and a half years ago, so your input is much appreciated.
In the meantime, if you are aware of specific problems on specific days, I’d encourage you to use our text alert service which is publicised in Martyrs. We will send a member of staff over to keep an eye on things as soon as possible. Alternatively, if you are noticing problems between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday-Friday, you could speak to the staff member on duty at the reception desk in Special Collections.
