Thank you for completing a "You said, We did" card recently relating to the noise of the hand-dryers in the Library. I'm sorry you have found the noise from the hand-dryers distracting. We've made adjustments to the hand-dryers in the past to make them quieter, however this has had the effect of making them less powerful, which means there's less noise, but for a longer duration.
We have been, and will continue to look for quieter alternatives to the hand-dryers we have at the moment, the main issues we have are that current hand-dryer manufacturers have a focus on energy efficient, which has resulted in speedier hand-dryers, but has made them noisier. Paper towels have been ruled out as they are much more wasteful than hand-dryers. Thanks for letting us know that this is an issue of concern for you.
