I do appreciate that over-crowding during peak periods is a very real issue in the Main Library however I don’t think preventing first year students from entering the Library during busy periods would be fair or appropriate. Instead we are working with other colleagues in the University to try and make more alternative study spaces available and to ensure these are properly publicised. In the longer term the University is planning to refurbish the lowest level of the Main Library to provide more study spaces for our students though I appreciate that as a final year student this will not help solve the current problem.
