I’m very sorry that you feel the Library rules about hot food are inflexible. I understand it is frustrating not being able to bring your food with you, but it would be a difficult policy for us to manage if we allowed people to take hot food out of the Café and through the Library gates, but not eat it. I understand that you wouldn’t have been eating the food in the Library, but unless we attempt to stop people from entering the Library with this type of food and at this point ensure they are aware that our policy is that hot food is not allowed, we rely on them noticing and adhering to the rules on our signage. It may also have caused confusion for others seeing this had been allowed for you.
In these types of situations, we need to be consistent; it is very difficult for us to bend the rules.
