Thank you for completing a "You Said, We Did" card recently. I'm sorry you've struggled to find a study space to suit you when you visited the Library, and that you found many of the seats taken were being "reserved" rather than used. As you may know we ran a "seat hogging" campaign last year, where we put out parking tickets for any desks where belongings had been left unattended for longer than an hour, advising others that they could use the desk. Unfortunately we found this not to be as effective as we hoped, so we are currently piloting an alternative scheme in St Mary's Library, where Library staff are moving belongings which have been left unattended for a period of time. We'll review the effectiveness of the pilot and if it has been more successful, look for ways to scale this up for the Main Library. Seat hogging is an issue which has been raised in a number of forums, but we can certainly include discussion about this at the next meeting of the Student Library User Group - all students can make representation through their Student Library Rep for issues they would like to bring to the attention of the group, along with any suggestions they may have on solutions.
Thanks also for your feedback about the type of study desk you prefer.
