Thanks for taking the time to complete a Library You Said/We Did feedback card a few weeks ago – apologies for the delay in this reply being sent to you.

I’m really pleased that you were happy with the extended opening times at the JF Allen Library during the exam period.  As you know, we also increased provision at the weekends so that the Library was open 9am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays when it would normally be closed.

In order to provide these increased opening hours during revision, we are dependent on sufficient janitorial staff from Estates being available to cover the opening of the building.  We are also dependent on sufficient funding being available to pay for these staff and, until now, it has not been possible to extend the opening hours beyond what has been already offered.

We’ve yet to analyse the usage data for the recent period of extended hours but once we’ve done that, we can take a view on whether or not more could be offered at weekends in the future.

Thanks again for your feedback.
