The table in short loan was originally installed to allow users to briefly consult books that were in short loan or on the hold shelf (possibly reserved for someone else). This is why there is a UniPrint machine in this area. However, noise from students using these seats was becoming disruptive for both other users and also for Library staff working on the other side of the wall against which the table sat. We therefore raised the height of the table so that it could still be used for brief consultations but hopefully noise levels would be improved.
At this point in time, we have no plans to replace seats in this area.
