Thanks for your feedback card. To answer your 2 questions in turn:
- Food waste bins – we don’t currently permit any food to be eaten on the 2 silent floors of the Library, as you probably know already, although we do plan to review this policy in the coming months. In terms of food waste bins on the ground floor (where we do allow food), this is something that I can raise with my colleagues in the Estates department’s Environment team. We may struggle to find space to accommodate even more recycling bins but we can certainly look into it.
- Coffee cups – my understanding from the Environment team is that the cups used by the University’s various café outlets including the Library café, are already compostable. They are currently trying to get new arrangements in place to ensure that coffee cups are either recycled as paper or composted.
