Thanks for your You Said We Did comments card last week.
The Library has been exceptionally busy this semester and we would love to be able to provide more study space but it’s outwith our control as Library staff. The University intends to put an additional 375 study spaces in Level 1 by 2020, a space currently occupied by our general collections store and some staff offices. We can’t create more study space here until the new store and staff accommodation at Guardbridge is completed.
In the meantime, there are other spaces such as the Gateway lower ground area which has 60 seats and is available 9am-9.45pm to all students 7 days a week. We also have extended hours at both the JF Allen Library and St Mary’s College Library – see our blog post at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/libraryblog/2017/11/increased-library-opening-hours-during-exams-2/.
In addition, the University’s Timetabling team has negotiated access to additional study facilities in teaching spaces over the next few weeks and we have published this information on our blog at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/libraryblog/2017/12/study-spaces-in-university-buildings/.
I hope this helps and good luck with your exams.
