Q. Returning a book to another Library site

Do I need to return a book to the Library site I borrowed it from, or can I return a book to any of the Libraries at St Andrews?

Ideally you should return the book to the Library site you borrowed it from as this will allow the Library staff to get the book back on the shelves quickly.  However you can return books to one of our other sites if that's more convenient.  For clarification the sites you can return books to are:

  • Main Library on North Street
  • St Mary's College Library just off South Street
  • The JF Allen Library in the Physics Building on the North Haugh.

If you return a book to a site which isn't the site you borrowed from, the book will remain on your Library record until it's checked in at the site it was borrowed from, but it should clear from your record by the next working day (Monday - Friday).
