Thanks for completing one of our You Said/We Did cards in the Library earlier this week.

I quite agree – the temperature in the Library is pretty unbearable and having spent time in our staff room on level 1 this morning with colleagues during a communications session, I can also tell you that even staff areas are unpleasant.

We are doing everything we can to move forward the long-standing problems with heating, ventilation and air conditioning in this building.  The fact that all of these systems have been replaced in the last 3 years and continue to fail us on a daily basis is most disheartening.

We are hopeful that an end is in sight and we are encouraging our colleagues in Estates to resolve this problem but, for the time being and on behalf of the University, I can only apologise for what are frustratingly unpleasant working conditions.

Best wishes

Ewan McCubbin (Assistant Director)
