Thanks for filling in an IT Services feedback card the other day although it was deposited in a Library feedback box so has been passed to me. It’s not completely clear from your comments which service you’re asking for feedback on but I’ll do my best to answer your points in turn:
Vending and hot water machine at Butts Wynd
This would be a matter for my colleagues in IT Services as they look after the IT suites in Butts Wynd. I would suggest you contact them directly with your suggestion at email@example.com.
If you mean by this that beds should be replied in Butts Wynd or the Library, I think it’s safe to say that neither location is likely to introduce beds for students. In the Library we do not have the room and even if we did have space, it is not something I would be encouraging students to expect. Students have beds in their own accommodation and in terms of healthy and sensible study practice, I would always encourage a student to go home and sleep properly when they need to.
Later closing times at weekends
On the assumption that you are talking about the Main Library, you’ll be pleased to know that I am working on improvements to our opening hours at the moment. This will take time but we are hoping that the University will be supportive – through the provision of the additional staff we need – of our aspiration to increase semester hours to 0800-0200 7 days a week on a permanent basis from September this year.
Update: opening times changed in Semester 1 of Academic year 2014/2015. During Semester the Library is now open from 08.00-02.00 7-days a week. Opening times can be viewed for all sites on the Library Homepage.
Book and voucher competitions
I’m afraid I can’t really provide a detailed response to this point as I’m not sure what you mean. I’d be happy to answer it in more detail if you provide further explanation.
