Thanks for filling in a Library You Said/We Did card a couple of weeks ago – sorry for the delay in replying.
Whilst I can totally appreciate your frustration with other users occupying PC study desks in order to plug their laptops in, I don’t feel that there’s any way of enforcing a policy along the lines of what you suggest. There will be some students occupying a PC desk only to make use of the available power points. There will of course be other students who are working with both the desktop PC and their laptop or tablet. I frequently work with both a desktop PC and a tablet at my own desk so would be unsurprised to see students doing the same.
I believe what would help is further expansion of power points at study desks throughout the building. If we can get to the stage where most study desks have sockets at them, this would almost certainly alleviate this issue at the PC study tables. We are waiting for engineers in Estates to advise us as to whether or not additional power points on levels 3 and 4 is technically possible.
Thanks again for your feedback.
