Thanks for your comments on the provision of power sockets and toilets in the Library.
In relation to power sockets in the silent study zone, this is an issue which students have been commenting on during the exam period. At the moment we are restricted to having power at the perimeter desks in the silent areas due to the design of the building, however our colleagues in Estates are looking at ways to get power to the remaining desks on levels 3 and 4, unfortunately this is unlikely to be resolved soon, but we hope to see improvements in the longer term.
In relation to the toilet stalls in the male toilets, we would love to have more toilets in the Library as we're really aware of how frustrating it can be for users, especially during exams when we're really busy. During the Redevelopment Project in 2011/12, we were able to add an additional urinal in the male bathrooms, as well as an additional cubicle to each of the female toilets, and 2 new disabled toilets (one each on levels 3 and 4 respectively).
We could only expand the capacity of the toilets that we already had because to add extra toilets in different locations would have required water and other services to be re-distributed to these new areas. Unfortunately there was insufficient budget to allow us to do this and we were also constrained by the fact that the building wasn't increased in size.
Thanks again for your comments.
