Thank you for getting in touch about PC provision in the JF Allen Library.
We have previously looked at the usage figures for this small bank of PCs (five in number) and found that after a busy period in the mornings uptake dropped off considerably and quite often in the afternoons the PCs were not being used at all. Trying to get the balance between open study spaces and PC provision is a challenge but in the past we felt that with the School of Physics PC classroom directly below the JF Allen Library and other PC clusters nearby in the School of Mathematics and at The Wedge in the Medical Building there was an appropriate number of PCs in the library.
However it is probably time that we looked at these usage figures again – I will contact colleagues in IT Services accordingly and assess the case for additional PCs within the Library.
Thanks again for your feedback.
