Thanks for your feedback. The short answer is no - Martyrs Kirk has not been opened up to taught postgrads and we have no intention of doing so on a full time basis.
We are, however, considering a trial next semester of allowing PGTs into Martyrs in the evenings Monday-Friday and at weekends. PGTs are understandably frustrated with having to use a very overcrowded Main Library and the usage of Martyrs in the evenings and the weekends is pretty low.
We are not convinced that Martyrs will be able to cope with the demand from so many PGTs but are considering our options in consultation with the Postgraduate Society. It is worrying to have received your comments so soon after another PGR complained about the behaviour in Martyrs.
It would be helpful if you could provide more specific information on when you have noticed this type of behaviour so that we can keep a closer eye on things.
We always intended Martyrs Research Reading Room to be an unstaffed facility but are prepared to reconsider this position if a staff presence helps to maintain an environment conducive to study.
