Thank you for filling in a "You said, We did" card recently, asking that we remind everyone using Martyrs Kirk Research Library to switch their phones to silent. We ask everyone who uses any of our silent study spaces to ensure their phones are switched to silent, and by "silent" we mean silent!! So I'm really sorry to hear that you've been disturbed by the annoying vibration of someone else's phone when you were using the Reading Room in Martyrs, as we had hoped the signage was clear.
We would encourage you to report these sorts of incidents when they occur by using the noise alert text service, you can text your report, be that talking, vibrating phones or other disturbances to 07740 421569 with details of what the disturbance is, and a member of Library staff will attend. If you can tell us where the disturbance is coming from (e.g. desk nearest the entrance) then we'll speak to the person concerned and politely remind them of the rules.
Thanks for letting us know this has been a problem you've experienced. I hope it won't happen again, but if it does please let us know.
