Thanks for taking the time to complete a "You said, We did" card recently. As you raise a number of questions I've split my response accordingly.
Access to a kettle
We've been asked in the past to provide hot water facilities in the Library for use when the cafe closes. Unfortunately at the moment we don't have space for the safe provision of a kettle, or hot water dispenser. You also ask if we would consider a tea-bag dispenser and a different coffee vending machine, the Library isn't responsible for the vending machines in the Library, but I'll pass your suggestion to Residential and Business Services for consideration. Walking in the silent zones
I'm sorry to hear that you find people walking around the Library can be disturbing when you're trying to focus on studying. It would be very difficult for us to map out routes to the toilets, and this might end up causing more of a disturbance in the areas people are directed to. It would also prove very difficult to enforce. Some areas of the Library see more traffic than others, so you may find moving to a different location may make a significant difference.
We do have a lot of white walls in the Library! We have some art works displayed in some areas, including the ground floor. As you may be aware, we will be redeveloping areas of the Library over the coming years, so this may be something we will be able to address.
More copies of key texts
The Library tries to ensure sufficient copies of books required for modules. However, if you think we don't have enough copies or indeed no copies of books you need for your courses, you can request these books using the MoreBooks service - simple email morebooks with the details of the book(s) and we'll try to get what's needed.
