Thanks for completing a "You said, We did" card recently.
At the moment the ground floor of the library provides accommodation for some Library staff, but primarily it's the location of our Store - where we hold some of the Library collections which we don't have space for on level 3. Given the compact nature of the store shelving, and the fragile nature of some of the collection, this collection can't be browsed, but can be recalled for use.
It is anticipated that the Library will be redeveloped soon, with a new Store facility being developed. This would allow for the removal of our Store materials, as well as some Library staff, which would allow the Ground floor to be developed into study space, alongside other spaces within the Library. It is hoped that this would help alleviate the current pressures on the building at busy times.
Thanks for your letting us know that you'd like to see more study space in the Library, and specifically on the ground floor.
