Q. Can't import PDFs in Endnote because of locked file error.

"I am on a Mac trying to import PDFs into Endnote and I get the error message: "The file "%@" is locked or is on a locked volume. No changes will be saved."

There are a number of reasons why you might be seeing it, but the most common one is because you have saved your EndNote Library to your iCloud storage space. EndNote works best if saved to the hard drive of your computer.

On a PC,it may be because a process called emailhelper86.exe has not quit properly. Try closing EndNote, using the task manager to force close that file and then rebooting your PC.
