If you have submitted a book request it may be declined if the cost for purchasing the book exceeds the price the Library will pay for a book.  

If you need the book for your own research then you may be able to obtain it by submitting an Inter-Library Loan request.  Before submitting a request consider whether you would like to request a loan of the book, or if you just need a chapter.  You can request a scan of one chapter or 10% of a book.

If you are a member of staff, and the book is required for teaching please email readinglists@st-andrews.ac.uk with the details of the book, and the module(s) it is required for.
