If the Library is unable to purchase a copy of a book you have requested we may create an Inter-Library Loan request from your purchase request.  This might happen if:

  • The book is out of print with no copies listed with our suppliers
  • Copies are available from a supplier but the method of payment doesn't comply with the financial regulations the University must follow
  • There are no copies of an acceptability condition available from 'used' book suppliers

In order to provide you with access to the book we will attempt to obtain the book on loan from another Library.

You do not need to take any action unless you decide you don't want to borrow the book.  The Inter-Library Loans service will contact you if they have any enquiries, or to let you know on the progress of your request.

If you have any questions about your request please email Library@st-andrews.ac.uk
