Q. Your purchase request has been passed to Academic Liaison for review

I submitted a book recommendation form and received this response, why has this happened, and what happens next?

There are a range of reasons why your book purchase request will be passed to the Academic Liaison team including:

  • The price of the book exceeds the limit the Library will pay for a title
  • The book isn't available in the format required within the price limit the Library will pay
  • A decision needs to be taken about the most appropriate format

The Academic Liaison team will make a decision about the purchase request taking consideration of:

  • Whether the book is a required reading for a module(s)
  • How a module is being delivered (in person, or distance learning) if required for teaching
  • The anticipated usage of the book
  • Format availability
  • Accessibility, quality and usability, compliance with technical standards

What happens next?

A member of the Academic Liaison team may approve your request, in which case the order will be placed and you will be notified when the book is available.  If the title is not approved a member of Library staff will contact you to discuss your recommendations either to obtain further information, or to advise on alternative routes to access the title, or with suggestions for alternative resources you may want to consider.
