EndNote 2025 Research Assistant uses AI to provide:

  • Key takeaways - a short paragraph on what the document is about and a list of additional topics covered. Key takeaways are generated based on the full-text of a document or if unavailable on the reference abstract.
  • An option to chat with the document for specific insights.
  • A translation feature.

In order to activate the Research Assistant you need to have created and signed into your EndNote account. The Research Assistant can be switched on or off on the PDF tab in the Reference panel by clicking the sparkles icon.

While the Research Assistant is designed to minimise the chances of hallucinations and the risk of bias it should not replace critical reading and analysis. Always verify that the information is correct.

Before using any AI generated content you should familiarise yourself with the University's Generative AI - FAQs for students which provide guidance on the use of AI in your studies.
